Ooo Lyle, this is a new favorite!! Riveting! I haven't exerienced ANY of these, but I was right there with you on the confidence game the whole read (especially reflecting on my youth as I get older and less-AND-more confident). Congrats on another Foster Season! And Andrei, congrats on your Subiversary! Fab Collab!
Amazing post (sorry I'm so late to it, for some reason I didn't spot it in my inbox), such interesting/personal stories and so well told, Lyle. Thank you for being so open in sharing and thank you Andrei bringing the collaboration in.
Congrats on the 1 year Substackiversary! Here's to many more.
Lyle, as usual, profound post! I was thinking about how a lot of our confidence as children comes from our parenting. Years ago my brother started a parenting magazine (which didn’t succeed) and he asked me to research and write on infant development. I was fascinated by a concept I came across, synchronizing with one’s child, how a parent helps give a baby a sense of self if the parent synchronizes with the baby’s emotions… laughing when the baby laughs, etc. This author below taught me the most, and helped me re-evaluate the deeper, more root causes of some of my lack of self-confidence, which varied at various ages. Thanks for this topic!
This was great piece💜Thank you to Lyle for writing it. Thank you to you, Andrei, for having it as your guest post! I’m adding it to my saved posts to go back to and reread when a confidence boost is needed. Looking forward to seeing what Year 2 of Practice Space will bring for you, Andrei and to more conversations in this space! Huzzah to you, dear friend!
What a wonderful piece by Lyle! Indeed confidence comes with in. I feel like it's a bit like rollercoaster right, maybe less chaotic, but it goes up and down, but with time there are more ups and downs. Congratulations on your first year here, Andrei! I'm so blessed to have met you!
You two make a terrific team!
Haha, yeah!

Such a pleasure to read these stories.
Always trying new things! Congratulations! Your evolution this year was amazing! What new surprises are you preparing for your next post? 😉
It just went live today! A little Christmas short story. Sorry it took a while, but I hope it was worth the wait!
What a wonderful guest post - thoroughly enjoyed it. And congratulations on one year in!
Thanks a million, June!
