This is beautifully written, Andrei! I grew up with my dad and brother from when I was 9 onwards and I understand so well the pain, anger and desperation of men.
Thanks so much for saying so! I’ve never been quite sure of this essay. My wife says she’s among the best things I’ve ever written, but something feels a bit off about it to me, though I can’t put my finger on it. Glad to know my wife is wiser than I am!
🥳🥳🥳 this makes me feel so good. I’m so glad you think so! Can’t wait for you to read my first novella, when it’s done and I translate it to English. I think you’d really enjoy it.
"advancing slower than osteoporosis" some great similes in here! Love it!
My dad had a mega tempter too, so I can relate. Yesterday, my son absolutely lost it because his sister supposedly gave him a pen with less ink than the one she took for herself. Not sure how to help him channel that, it's tricky hey? Nice to learn from others' experience, so thanks for sharing this.
I’m glad it resonated with you. Anger is difficult to manage, especially in children, who don’t really understand it. Maybe try to find out if a larger frustration is at play?
The best thing of yours that I’ve read, Andrei. Envious that you found the courage to get right inside your thoughts and feelings and to share them with us. The words create such an emotional attachment for the reader to the storytelling. Outstanding.
I’m so glad you found it so 🙏🏻 It was, in many ways, the hardest thing I’ve ever written. It took me about 3 months to get it where it is. For such a short piece, that’s a lot of time. Glad it resonated with you.
I’ve been thinking about being a dad a lot recently. I was one aged (just) 20 before I knew myself as an adult. My dad wasn’t around much when I was a kid - he died this year and we met up for the first time in about 20 years last November. I recognise how difficult it is to find the words.
It's a beautiful story, Andrei. Thank you so much for sharing this personal experience with us.
This reminds me of a German book, “Verbrenn alle meine Briefe,” by Alex Schulman. It is based on the true story of two Swedish authors, Sven Stoloe and Olof Lagercrantz, and how the kind anger in family flows through generations. I am not sure if the book has been translated into English, but I can highly recommend it.
It doesn’t seem to be available in anything but German, Swedish, and Italian. And my German is not good enough to read it :(I thought maybe it’d at least be available in Romanian, but it doesn’t seem to be.

Maybe it needs a follow up to understand that feeling, explore more.
Very likely.
A super essay.
Appreciate it!
Is the second time I read it, and is still very touching. The way you write it makes everyone who reads it feel as they was there... Congratulations 😊

Sure! 😀
WOW. Insightful. Powerful. You can write. I felt like I was watching
I’m very glad, Jeanne 😃 It’s nice to meet you.

Addiction to Fortnite? 🤔
Ahh, that explains part of it. 😂

Sorry to hear about your dad.
Thanks so much; I’m glad we got to reconnect.

That's too bad. Someone should translate the book into English 😔
It’s that good, huh? Now I’m sorta frustrated I can’t find it.
It is really great! Maybe you can read it with translator on Kindle? 😁
Maybe! That’s a good idea.
I’ll look it up. Seems right up my alley!
This is a good piece of writing. Great job!
Appreciate it a lot, Hyun Woo! 😍
I have always loved this piece, Andrei
